Tips from an expert how to clean your jewelry

Your fine jewelry is not just an investment, but a cherished piece full of sentiment, often worn every day. While a little wear and tear is natural, with a bit of love and care, you can preserve its beauty for years to come - ensuring it becomes a timeless heirloom for the future.

Here are a few gentle tips to help keep your jewelry looking its best.

Always remove your jewelry if it may meet any chemicals, such as:

  • Cleaning products
  • Lotions
  • Perfumes
  • Hair sprays
  • Makeup
  • Chlorine

Organic gemstones, like pearls and opals, are particularly sensitive to chemicals, so it’s important to take extra care with them.

We recommend removing your jewelry before sleeping, showering, or swimming.

Additionally, it’s a good idea to take off your jewelry before any activity that could potentially cause damage, such as exercising, yardwork, gardening, cleaning, or lifting heavy objects. If you're unsure whether it’s best to remove your jewelry, it’s safer to store it away.

Always store your jewelry in a secure place, away from other pieces that could rub, scratch, or tangle. Ideally, keep your fine jewelry in a fabric-lined box or case.

To keep your jewelry looking its best, clean it regularly using warm (not hot or boiling) water, a gentle soap (we recommend blue dish soap), and a soft toothbrush. Gently dry it with a microfiber cloth.

Opals are especially delicate, so we recommend taking extra care of them. Please avoid using an ultrasonic cleaner, as it can damage them.
